December 14, 2011 - The FX network is trying to kill me
An entire TV network trying to kill you? Surely not! And no, I don’t actually believe they are trying to kill me specifically. But I do believe that someone in their events department has some sort of mental deficiency or is at best incompetent. This story needs some background, so first let me link you to my post about Fox’s fiasco at San Diego Comic Con 2010 where their event planning resulted in physical injury to myself and others.
Now also let me give you a bit of information about myself which will inform this latest issue. I live in Las Vegas. I do not live here by choice. I moved here for my job and since then everyone I know has up and left. This is a horrible place for anyone who is not a hooker/stripper/pimp/gambler to live. I only see friends if I drive out to LA to see them, or if someone comes in to town on a rare occasion. So when FX announced they would be “at the Fremont Street Experience here in Vegas at 425 Fremont St from 5-7pm Wednesday December 14”, you can imagine that I was delighted to have something going on here. So my husband and I took the 45 minute drive (rush hour traffic, it’s awesome!) down there, parked the car, and walked to the address. Oh, it may also be important to tell you that it is winter here and I am asthmatic. So I don’t usually volunteer to go walking around after dark in the cold because it usually ends badly for me.
I would love to tell you that it was worth it, but yet again Fox/FX/whoever runs their event shit decided it wasn’t important to give correct information. There was no bus, no event, no anything. No one at the address given knew anything. I was on my phone checking to see if their Facebook page gave any update about a cancellation. As I write this, they have to post anything and are not even responding to people that are asking what happened.
So, in wasting my time and money you’d think I’d be mildly annoyed. And I am. But more than that, I have to wonder if they are hurting for competent event staff or even social media staff. Are you hiring? I know lots of people who would love to do these jobs and would be 100% better at it than any of the morons you’ve had running your shit for the past couple years. Seriously, EMAIL ME.
UPDATE: 8:13PST - Seems like the Family Guy Facebook was given different times but no exact location. WTF Fox?!
