Hi! I'm Ginny McQueen and this is my website.
I'm a cosplayer (someone who dresses up as characters from anime, video games, sci-fi, etc.) and all-around geek. Here you'll find my costumes, modeling, travel blogs, and links to various shenanigans on the web.
Add me on your networking site of choice, and keep up with my (very nerdy) life! <3
Space Attack!
July 29, 2009
Thank you to the very awesome San Smith for my rad new art! I’ll have a banner up for her shortly. I’m still working on the colors and things a bit, but for now I have to get back to packing for Japan. I leave tomorrow! So if you see anything really broken with the site, let me know.
Unfortunately we have been too busy with work to get to photo-shooting, but when I get back from Japan I will have a new costume up, I swear. Sayonara!
Rainn Wilson? Now I’ve seen it all.
July 28, 2009
First, a shout out to Rainn Wilson who took the time to look at this website. With his eyes. And then told me about it. So, here’s to you and to the Dwight bobble-head that sits on my desk. You are a mongoose among snakes.
And if you are noticing I’m sounding a bit delirious, it is because OF COURSE I would get sick 48 hours before having to get on a plane and be on my way to Japan. I’m hoping if I just get some rest today that I’ll be better and fit for the crazy travel. I was even having dreams last night that were merging my upcoming trip with my last trip in Russia and Germany. It was pretty unsettling. I even dreamt I forgot my business cards, probably because Kyle specifically reminded me not to forget them.
I am going to try really hard to get a new costume up before I go. But it’s looking like I won’t be able to until I get back. Sorry guys! Work and health comes first. There is always the chance that Kyle and I will have some time tomorrow, but it’s only a chance. Right now I need to focus on getting better and getting my costumes and things packed for Thursday.
I should have at least something to update before I’m gone to Japanland. And of course I’ll try to update with some photos while I’m there. For now I need to get back to chugging limeade.
Total Bummer, Happy Changes
July 23, 2009
I just found out that someone I used to know took one of my costumes and claimed it as their own making. It really bums me out, but there’s no reason to start anything about it. I guess I should be flattered that other people want to claim my work as theirs.
Before I leave for Japan next week, I’m hoping to have a big site update featuring some brand new art done by an awesome friend of mine, and maybe even a new costume if I have the time. I’m super excited about the idea of having my website looking much more spiffy. I’m going to try to update this blog here more often as well.
This weekend I’ll be heading to LA to hit up the fabric district in my troublesome fabric search and hang out with my favorite twins. I think we might also be going to the Magic Castle (the private club, not Disney). I wish I had the time/money to be at SDCC! But I can’t complain too much when I’m going to Japan next week.
So look forward to at least one more update before I invade Tokyo again. I’m sure I’ll have tons of silly photos and stories when I get back.
I’m all up in your airwaves.

Wow, so I thought I’d be chilling the rest of the summer. But surprise! I’ll be taking a trip to Japan at the end of the month to be on TV! The show is called CosCos PurePure and is on Fuji TV, a major network in Japan. Obviously, it’s a show about cosplay. And I’m also psyched that my friend Julia is going to be coming with me! They’ve chosen for me to wear my Ranka costume. While I’m not looking forward to having to bind my boobs down again (LOL!), I’m super excited about going. I hope I don’t make too big a fool of myself (ok, that’s a lie, I love making a fool of myself).
Also, if you aren’t already, be sure to follow me on Twitter. I found a couple of extra prints of my Ayanami Rei and Penelo costume shots laying around, and thought I’d give them a good home. So I’m running a little tweet contest. Also check out my Facebook page if you haven’t yet.
And in other awesome news, The Twilight Sad is playing in LA in September. They are one of my favorite bands. If you haven’t heard them, please have a listen. They are just as good if not better live, and I’m so psyched to be seeing them again!
I’m hoping this Japan trip doesn’t muck up my Dragon*con costume plans too much, but I think I can manage. I’ll just be working extra hard! I’ll be in LA next weekend to sweep through the fabric district and hopefully find the fabric I’m searching for. Oh cosplay, how you eat my time and money, but I love it anyway.
Is you is or is you ain’t my baby.

The rest of the Ovelia photos from Kyle are up here.
Wow! Now it’s time to start on Dragon*con costumes! French dresses, orange jumpsuits, and shiny roller skates! I hope I can get everything done on a decent budget. Luckily two of them are already started. Oh, and maybe I’ll finish that Ulala costume I started, too.
Julia and Dorian are leaving tomorrow, so it’s back to the usual. I will miss them! But I’ll probably get more work done without them here.
And here’s a funny photo from Germany. I’m such a weirdo!
