Hi! I'm Ginny McQueen and this is my website.
I'm a cosplayer (someone who dresses up as characters from anime, video games, sci-fi, etc.) and all-around geek. Here you'll find my costumes, modeling, travel blogs, and links to various shenanigans on the web.
Add me on your networking site of choice, and keep up with my (very nerdy) life! <3
Welcome back to me!

Well, as you guys know I was at KawaiiKon a few weeks ago. The KawaiiKon staff is amazing! Super professional and courteous. I look forward to working with them again. The cosplayers we judged and the ones that came to our panel were also really nice and it was great meeting everyone. After the con, Rob and I got to show Kyle and Julia the good part of the island. And I of course love when I get to have encounters with sea turtles!
I also got Kyle to take some cool photos of my Dead or Alive Techmo bikini on the beach which I though turned out awesome aside from my squinty-sun-face. Just look at them without looking at my face and they are super-cool. Since it’s a bought official bikini, it’s not in my costume gallery.
I also wanted to mention that I’m a guest at Cyphan in Chicago at the end of June. I’m super-excited to be a guest with Nicki Clyne. I was a guest with Aaron Douglas back at All-con, so it’s cool I get to be a guest with her, too. Plus I’m a huge Cally fan. My website is on the fritz a bit so I can’t update my schedule with all my upcoming conventions. Hopefully that will be fixed soon!
I hope all of you have been doing better than I have. I should have some real costume updates coming soon now that I’m not dying of the plague. Whoever went to KawaiiKon with that sickness is a total jerk!

The only thing left to get/make for my wedding outfit is whatever I’m going to put in my hair. I so wish that I could post photos of my wedding dress (I am in love with it) but I can’t. But I can show you my shoes and the custom leather wristbands I had made to hide my tattoos. Yes, I promised to hide my tattoos. If it saves having to explain to a 95 year old woman that tattoos aren’t just for criminals and gang members, I’m okay with it. Rob and I also scouted out the location for our ceremony yesterday. I hope I don’t end up falling in the dirt since it’s outside! Anyway, here’s a shot of my shoes and wristbands.
I’m leaving for Hawaii on Thursday to go to KawaiiKon. I’m definitely looking forward to it. I’ll be holding a costuming panel with Julia as well as a Cosplay.com panel with Julia and Kyle. We’ll also have a booth in the dealers room, so come by and say hello! <3
This blog post has an STD
March 31, 2010
For those of you unfamiliar with the term, STDs (Save the Dates) are something you send out to everyone you are going to invite to your wedding. But they are not invitations! They simply let everyone know when your wedding will be. It’s kind of an early warning signal for your guests to prepare their excuses for not coming.
For ours, I wanted to use a photo of us together and Rob agreed to using a shot from our Doctor Who photo shoot (see the rest here!). The photo is by my Wedding Captain, Kyle Johnsen. It was designed by me and printed on a 4x6 magnet by overnightprints.com. We were lucky and found some envelopes that matched our color scheme (We are using black, white, and silver mostly) on clearance at Target. I then got our address labels printed with a cute little spaceship on them (are you sensing the sci-fi influence yet?) and some silver star stickers to finish them.
So there you have it, the first photo of anything wedding related I’ve posted. And there really won’t be much else until the invitations go out. But I’m sure I’ll have plenty to post about otherwise.

Wedding planning is for nerds.
March 25, 2010
So I was thinking that maybe I should use this blog to really document what’s going on in my life. I usually don’t like talking about things until they are set in stone, so I’m always waiting on talking about a lot of stuff that I shouldn’t. One thing I can talk about is the crazyness that is planning a wedding when you are anti-wedding. In case you missed me rambling about it, I’m getting married on October 2 of this year. And trying to plan a low-key, low-budget wedding when your fiance wants to invite his whole family and his 80 best friends is a little challenging.
I’m a very strange, eccentric, goofy, cynical-but-whimsical, opinionated, laid-back, geeky hermit. And so I want the wedding to reflect that. Rob had a very traditional idea of what weddings were like, but luckily I’ve been able to find a middle ground when it comes to incorporating my crazy wants and needs. I guess I see it as something that is mostly to make Rob happy with his friends and family. So I’m just trying to stick my weirdness into it where ever possible.
The STDs (Save the Dates) will be the next thing I blog about. They are all done, and sitting next to me as I type this. But I’m waiting on address labels and stickers. I’ll post about them next week which is also when I’ll be sending them out.
I’ll have the usual costume/convention/pod-cast posts continuing soon. As usual, you can keep up with me on Twitter and Facebook.
