I'm a cosplayer (someone who dresses up as characters from anime, video games, sci-fi, etc.) and all-around geek. Here you'll find my costumes, modeling, travel blogs, and links to various shenanigans on the web.
Add me on your networking site of choice, and keep up with my (very nerdy) life! <3
Wow, the week is coming to a close already. I feel like I’ve been running around like crazy but I haven’t done much physically at all. I’ve been trying to work as hard as I can, both on actual work and on my personal projects. I’m hopeful that everything will work out but it will require lots time and effort. My problem is that if I put too much time and effort into anything I tend to make myself kinda sickly. I’m such a delicate flower (LOL)!
Invites (omgIgotanotherinvitetogotorussiaIhopeitworksoutwithmyscheduleomg) and business trips seem to be piling up for the coming year. I’m already sure that 2010 is going to be a party. Lots of hard work, but lots of partying in between! I am still amazed sometimes that people want to meet me and would have me come across the planet to do so. I never would have guessed that making silly costumes and being a big geek would make me somehow popular. In fact, I’m pretty sure that’s how you become less popular in most circles. But being me is what I do best so I’m glad some people find it interesting.
Also on that note, I frequently have giveaways for signed prints and stuff on my Twitter and Facebook. So please join in for the possibility of free stuff. The people that support me in all my crazy geek endeavors are awesome. <3 I hope I can continue to entertain you guys in some way, even if it's just giving you something to laugh at.
My birthday is Columbus Day (October 12). So everyone who works for the post office and the banks here in the US gets a day off for my birthday! Unfortunately that doesn’t include the US courts, so my boyfriend still has to go to work. But I’m looking forward to a weekend of relaxing and lots of fatty food. And I’m sure I’ll make another post on Monday to complain about how old I am.
And the chorus of this song has been in my head all day since I heard it in the car. Darn you, catchy tune!
Fall is giving us a chilly welcome. It’s only been in the 70’s here, which is a bit out of the ordinary here in Vegas. It’ll be back in the 80’s again soon, which I would be happy about except it means more chances for me to be sick. Every time the weather changes suddenly, my asthma and such goes crazy. This morning was not fun at all. I’m hoping I’m over the worst of it.
It also would be just my luck to be sick again on my birthday. Last year I was covered in a crazy rash all over me that didn’t fully go away for 6 months! And two years ago I was in Italy and got super sick from everyone smoking. So I’m half-expecting to contract some sort of ailment again this year. I guess we’ll see next Monday.
In a couple weeks I’ll be having a Pumpkin Party! Last year I made an awesome Totoro jack-o-lantern. Looks like I’ll be having more company for this years carving. And yes, I know I am entertained by things only small children should find entertaining. I don’t care.
Not too much else to update on. Once I’m not feeling like barf I’m sure I’ll have more interesting things to discuss. Right now I’m waiting for the UPS dude to show up. He is being elusive today.
Had a productive, if not sleepy, weekend. The first big step of my new project went well. I’m keeping it super-duper quiet until I’m sure it’ll actually go somewhere. And plus it’s not cosplay related, so you aren’t missing anything.
I’ve been pretty good with keeping up with my emails lately. It probably helps that I’m not on a crazy deadline. I’ve had an influx of cosplay questions the past week. I am glad to help people with stuff. but if you want a slightly faster answer you can always use the forums on Cosplay.com. I always like hearing different opinions and techniques, and the forums are full of super-helpful people. But again, I’m glad to answer stuff when I can!
I’ve still got work to do tonight as well as a review to write for Fandomania. So have a good week, and enjoy my awesome pirate shirt!
Oh yeah! I wanted to share this adorable video of Kate Micucci. It’s so cute and reminds me of being a kid because my dad also was a hunter in the woods of Pennsylvania.
September 23, 2009 - Even monsters under the bed have nightmares.
Amazing, I accomplished everything I was supposed to in the past 24 hours! Kyle gave me my photos from the shoot this weekend, so my costume page for Madame de Pompadour from the Doctor Who episode Girl in the Fireplace is up. I included my favorite shot of Rob as The Doctor with his sonic screwdriver. I’m so happy to have some nice photos of us in our costumes.
Last night I did an interview for an Argentinian cosplay documentary (Hey Lucas, you’re awesome!). I hope I sounded appropriately geeky for them. It was via webcam late at night so I moved my computer downstairs to the dining room for two reasons - I didn’t want to wake up Rob who has to go to work at normal hours, and also behind my desk is a 9ft banner of me that Rob insists on keeping up in the office we share. I didn’t want to do the interview with a giant photo of what would have been my bottom half behind me as I was speaking. So instead I set up a piece of art that Rob made behind me. As you can see, it involves humping dinosaurs.
I’m not sure what I’ll be posting about next, but I’m sure it’ll be riveting.
September 22, 2009 - The kids are on fire in the bedroom
I got back from San Diego/Los Angeles yesterday. I had such a good weekend. Saturday did a photoshoot of my Madame de Pompadour and Rob’s Doctor costume. I should have that posted soon.
Sunday we went to the San Diego Zoo, and then left for LA to go to the Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit concert. Twilight Sad was amazing as usual, and I got to meet James again and give him a sweaty hug. I’m sure I’m now known as “that crazy groupie from Las Vegas”. And I found out right after leaving that Rainn Wilson was at the same concert and I didn’t see him. Damn you, fate!
Right now I’m looking forward to getting my house clean and getting work done on some non-cosplay related projects. I have a ton of emails to get through today, and also an interview over Skype late tonight. Even when I’m not working, I’m still working. Sometimes I can decide if I get paid to do my hobbies or if I work for free. Probably both.
